Joanie Lee is Chyna, " The Ninth Wonder of the World ". She attended the legendary Killer Kowalski's wrestling school and made her first appearance in the WWF in 1997, portraying Hunter Hearst Helmsley's admirer. She had breast augmentation surgery sometime in December of 97. (In another effort to look feminine, she has also had reconstructive surgery on her jawline.)
Chyna rarely speaks, but her presence is integral to the success of DX. She has helped Triple H to many victories, notably his Euro title match with Owen Hart, where her interference cost Hart the title. She initiated the so-called DX Split, where DX fooled everyone into thinking they had split. Little is known about Chyna's past. She is a reserved individual, but still affable company offscreen. She is Triple H's real-life fiancee. She still hasn't really wrestled in the WWF, although we have seen glimpses of her skill. She has performed Hurracurannas on Ken Shamrock, for example.
From Fighting Females magazine - Fall 1997 issue : "The Chyna Evolution": Joanie Lee started her pro wrestling career in 1996. She was trained in Boston by none other than the illustrious Killer Kowalski who predicted great things for her from the start. She has wrestled for the PGWA, LIWA and other independent groups. Some of her former opponents include, Christine Love, Angie Jenet and Psycho Sybil. She is in great shape and has competed in many Fitness America pageants in the past.
After having studied professional wrestling under the legendary "Killer" Kowalski, the muscular female decided that another one of his former students could use her assistance. Hunter Hearst-Helmsley, the student to which Kowalski measured all the rest, had been looking for someone new to accompany him ringside to watch his back. Triple H, previously managed by Mr Hughes and Mr Perfect, was certainly open to the idea of allowing a female to perform the task of managing him. The two superstars immediately formed the most devastating male/female team the world of professional wrestling has ever seen. Now as the official bodyguard for D-Generation X, Chyna provides the back-up muscle for the elite group in the world of professional wrestling. She never gets involved in the crotch chops, or DX pranks, but she did seem to enjoy the strip poker game earlier this year!! Standing in the background, a menacing figure, Chyna had reconstructive surgery on her jawline, an operation which has radically changed her appearance, making her look more feminine.
